Filming and Photography at Neptune Swim School

Wavey Shape

We know that learning to swim is a special milestone for many families, and it’s only natural to want to capture those proud moments. At the same time, we’re committed to protecting the privacy and comfort of all families in our swim community.

To keep things fair and respectful for everyone:
– Please speak with the Supervisor before taking any photos or videos at our facilities — even if it’s just of your own child.
– We’ll do our best to accommodate your request in a way that ensures the privacy of others is maintained.
– Your understanding helps us create a safe and welcoming space for all.

Neptune Swim School’s Child Safe Policy Framework

nss-underline

At Neptune Swim School, the safety and wellbeing of every child is our top priority. We want every child and young person who attends our programs to feel safe, supported and happy — in and out of the water.

This framework outlines the steps we take to provide a safe environment for all children and families in our community.

1. Our Commitment to Child Safety

We’re committed to building a culture where children are protected, respected, and heard. At Neptune, we:
– Have zero tolerance for any form of harm, abuse or neglect
– Provide a welcoming and inclusive environment for every child
– Actively listen to children’s voices and take their concerns seriously
– Treat every child with respect, fairness and care
– Put systems in place to prevent harm and continuously review our practices
– Support not just our swimmers, but also parents, staff, and carers

2. Leadership That Puts Safety First

Our leadership team is fully invested in maintaining a child-safe culture. We ensure that:
– Sufficient time, training and resources are allocated to child safety
– Our team leads by example and is trained to identify, manage and respond to risks
– Every person who enters our facilities — staff, trainees, visitors and families — is in a safe, supportive space

3. Our Staff Understand What’s Expected

Everyone who works at Neptune — whether casual, part-time or full-time — is required to uphold our child-safe standards through:

A Clear Code of Conduct
Every team member follows our Code of Conduct, which outlines how we interact with children in a respectful, professional, and safe way — always.

Thorough Staff Induction
All new team members complete a detailed child safety induction before they begin working with children, and they must agree to follow our Code of Conduct at all times.

Ongoing Training
Child safety isn’t a one-time conversation. Our team receives regular updates, refresher training, and workshops to stay current with best practices.

Specialised Training for Leaders
Managers complete additional training to help support staff, monitor teaching environments, and ensure full compliance with child protection laws.

4. We Encourage Speaking Up

Everyone — from parents and children to staff and carers — is encouraged to speak up if something doesn’t feel right.
– We have clear and easy-to-use reporting procedures
– Concerns can be raised with our dedicated Child Safety Contacts
– Immediate support is available over the phone or in person
– We take every report seriously and respond quickly — because child safety is non-negotiable
Our full complaint procedures are available on our website.

5. Privacy and Confidentiality Matter

We respect your privacy and treat all personal information about children and families with care. We follow a dedicated privacy policy that ensures data is collected, stored, and used appropriately and securely.

6. We Hire the Right People for the Right Reasons

Every staff member working with children must complete a valid Working With Children Check (WWCC) before starting, and we verify each check directly with the Office of the Children’s Guardian.
Our child-safe recruitment process includes:
– Clear job ads that highlight our commitment to child safety
– Interview questions that explore an applicant’s suitability for working with children
– Detailed referee and identity checks
– A probation period during which every new staff member’s performance and interaction with children is closely monitored
After probation, our teachers continue to receive support and supervision from senior team members to help them maintain the highest standards.
