School-Age — Level 5 (Start in middle, tumble turn each end)

6–8 laps per activity.

Dolphins is the top of the school-age pathway — all four strokes are swum with real technical detail, using specific drills to sharpen efficiency rather than just build endurance.

What your child learns in Dolphins

1. Safe Entry

A safe, controlled pool entry, carried through from every earlier level.

2. Streamline Kicking

The streamlined kick, still the technical foundation under every stroke.

3. Freestyle Drill (Fingertrail, Zipper or Single Arm)

A choice of advanced freestyle drills targeting arm recovery technique — fingertrail, zipper, or single-arm — chosen based on what each swimmer needs to refine.

4. Freestyle Bilateral Breathing (High Elbows, Breathe Every 3)

Full freestyle with race-style technique: high-elbow recovery and breathing every third stroke.

5. Streamline Back Kicking

The streamlined backstroke kick, maintained as a technical foundation.

6. Backstroke Drill (Single Arm or 2 Right–2 Left–2 Together)

Backstroke arm drills that isolate and refine technique before it's put back together as a full stroke.

7. Backstroke

A full, continuous backstroke with race-ready technique.

8. Dolphin Kicking

The whole-body undulating kick, refined for power and rhythm.

9. Butterfly Drill (2 Right–2 Left–2 Together)

Butterfly arm drills that build the timing and strength needed for the full stroke.

10. Butterfly

A full butterfly stroke — the most demanding stroke in swimming, and a real milestone for any swimmer at this level.

11. Breaststroke Kicking

The breaststroke whip-kick, refined for power and technique.

12. Breaststroke Drill (2 Kick, 1 Pull)

A timing drill pairing two kicks to one arm pull, building the coordination breaststroke depends on.

13. Breaststroke

A full, continuous breaststroke with proper timing and technique.

What's next: From Dolphins, strong swimmers typically move toward stroke refinement, squad, or lap swimming pathways.
